Celebrating Pride and Strengthening Support for LGBTQ+ Communities
As Pride Month comes to a close, Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County (NLSLA) proudly celebrates the resilience, diversity, and contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals and families throughout Los Angeles County. Pride is both a celebration and a reminder of the ongoing work needed to ensure that every person can live free from discrimination, access essential services, and pursue justice with dignity and respect.
This year, NLSLA was honored to be invited to participate in the San Fernando Valley Pride March and Resource Fair by State Senator Caroline Menjivar, joining community members, advocates, and allies in celebrating LGBTQ+ pride and visibility. We are grateful to the Senator Menjivar, Mayor Karen Bass, and Supervisor Horvath and Somos Familia Valle for sponsoring the event and to the volunteers, and community partners who made the event possible and helped create a welcoming space for connection, education, and support.

NLSLA partners with Somos Familia Valle, an LGBTQ+ community organization dedicated to support, empower, and mobilize families, and allies for racial, gender, and economic justice in the San Fernando Valley. This month we provided a Know Your Rights presentation to their members focused on discrimination and legal protections for LGBTQ+ individuals. Everyone deserves to understand their rights and know where to turn when they experience discrimination in employment, housing, education, healthcare, or other areas of daily life. Through this partnership, we hope to empower community members with information and resources that help them advocate for themselves and their families.
At NLSLA, we believe that access to justice should be available to everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. We are committed to learning, growing, and building partnerships that help us better serve LGBTQ+ communities across Los Angeles County.
Happy Pride from all of us at NLSLA! We look forward to sharing more updates about our work with LGBTQ+ communities in the months ahead and continuing to build a more inclusive and equitable future together.
