Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County Commends Disney for Enormous Pro Bono Contribution of Legal Services for Wildfire Recovery
Los Angeles, CA – Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County (NLSLA) is publicly thanking Disney for their enormous pro bono contribution to the Wildfire Recovery. NLSLA has been providing legal aid services to fire survivors since the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) opened in early January.
“Providing free legal services at the DRC has been vital in assisting survivors navigate they various resources they need at this critical time.” explained Skip Koeing, Director of Pro Bono for NLSLA. “NLSLA has staffed the DRC every day since it opened, something we could not do without our pro bono partners, especially Disney. Since January 15th, over 25 Disney volunteers have helped staff the DRC. They have been integral to the work NLSLA is doing, helping survivors access the services and benefits they are entitled to as they recover.”
Legal professionals have been available at the DRC every day, all day, relying heavily on pro bono services. Since that time, Disney employees have contributed more than 550 hours of legal services at the DRC.
“The January wildfires were devastating to so many communities, including the hundreds of Disney employees who were impacted,” said Karen Frederiksen, the Disney attorney who leads the company’s pro bono efforts. “Using our legal skills to assist people most in need has been hugely rewarding, and I am so proud of the work Disney has undertaken to help with the recovery efforts.”
