NLSLA Celebrates Skip Koenig’s San Fernando Valley Bar Association President’s Award
NLSLA congratulates Skip Koenig on receiving the President’s Award from the San Fernando Valley Bar Association. This honor recognizes Skip’s remarkable contributions to the legal community and his commitment to expanding access to justice.
The award will be presented by the President of the San Fernando Valley Bar Association (SFVBA) at the Association’s 100th Anniversary Installation Gala on October 8. One of SFVBA’s top honors, the President’s Award recognizes a lawyer, judge, non-lawyer, or organization whose achievements have made a meaningful impact on the Association or the broader community.
Skip has dedicated his career not only to the practice of law, but also to serving others. After more than 25 years in private practice as a bankruptcy attorney, he joined NLSLA eight years ago and now serves as Director of Pro Bono.
At NLSLA, Skip works closely with law firms and attorneys to match their expertise with individuals who need legal help but cannot afford an attorney. He also supervises NLSLA’s Disaster Assistance Project and leads the Southern California Disaster Legal Assistance Collaborative, helping coordinate legal services for communities recovering from disasters.
His commitment to service extends throughout the legal and nonprofit communities. As part of his leadership work with numerous community organizations, Skip serves on the Board of Directors of the Emergency Network of Los Angeles (ENLA) and the Governing Board of Heart of Los Angeles, and he co-chairs the California Access to Justice Commission’s Pro Bono Coordinating Committee.
“We are so lucky to have Skip as part of the NLSLA family,” said NLSLA President & CEO Yvonne Mariajimenez. “He brings so much heart to this work, along with his incredible knowledge and experience. Skip has a wonderful ability to bring people together and inspire attorneys to use their talents to help people who might otherwise have nowhere to turn. He cares deeply about our clients and our community, and we are thrilled to see him receive this recognition.”
Through his leadership, Skip has helped strengthen NLSLA’s relationships with the private bar and created new opportunities for attorneys to make a difference in the lives of NLSLA clients.
Congratulations, Skip, on this well-deserved honor! We are grateful for all that you do for NLSLA, our clients, and the greater legal community.
