Kirkland & Ellis’ Sharre Lotfollahi Joins NLSLA Board
NLSLA is proud to announce the newest member of its Board of Directors, Kirkland & Ellis’ Sharre Lotfollahi. Sharre is a partner in Kirkland’s Intellectual Property Litigation Group and focuses on disputes involving trade secret, patent, trademark, and copyright, including licensing disputes regarding intellectual property.
NLSLA got to know Sharre when Kirkland partnered with the organization on a major lawsuit to help the many sick and disabled people who were unlawfully dropped from Medi-Cal because the county failed to process their renewal forms. Sharre led the effort on behalf of Kirkland’s team, and clocked in countless pro bono hours to help clients with serious medical conditions. Together, Kirkland and NLSLA successfully defeated the county’s arguments and prevailed in the case.
Sharre’s work was critical in preserving more than $20 million in Medi-Cal benefits each year. She brought her expertise and passion to the case and worked hard to secure a systemic remedy. In recognition of Kirkland’s work on the case, the firm received NLSLA’s Legal Excellence Award in 2017.
“I am honored to have gotten the opportunity to work with such talented lawyers at NLSLA, helping those in need get the legal representation they deserve,” Sharre said. “And I am thrilled to have been elected to the Board where I can help the organization continue to realize its goals.”
NLSLA Executive Director Neal Dudovitz said Sharre has been an important partner in the organization’s efforts to secure justice for people who depend on MediCal to survive. “We are honored to have her on our Board of Directors, and look forward to working with her on expanding access to justice and equality for people living in poverty across Los Angeles County.”
